Hospice of Peel is a non-profit charitable organization with three major funding sources - grants, donations and special events. The services of Hospice are provided free of charge due to the contributions of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors and the support of the community.
a) Grants
Grants account for close to 42 per cent of the operating budget. Granting sources include: The United Way of Peel Region and the Ministry of Health (Long Term Care)
Hospice is currently in the 3rd year of a grant from the Trillium Foundation(Ontario) accounting 10%.
b) Donations
As a registered charitable agency Hospice of Peel issues tax receipts for donations received. Any financial contribution to Hospice of Peel is a "Gift of Dignity". Donations from individuals, corporations, faith communities, service clubs, foundations and in-memoriam make up 20 per cent of our income. Donations of equipment and supplies are often received; "in-kind" donations have been very helpful.
c) Fundraising Events
Each year a number of special events and activities are planned as fundraisers. They accounted for nearly 40 per cent of the budget. A number of annual and on-going events and activities - all volunteer driven -include
- Bingo (at Bingo city 3 times per month)
- October Soiree - gala dinner & auction
- Gift Wrapping
- A number of 3rd party events such as Golf Tournmanet & Concerts.
We are always seeking fundraising ideas and volunteer help. We welcome suggestions or leads and offers of support from corporations, service clubs, schools who do a fundraising project on our behalf.
