How We Are Funded

Funding Base

Hospice of Peel is a non-profit charitable organization with three major funding sources - grants, donations and special events. The services of Hospice are provided free of charge due to the contributions of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors and the support of the community.

a) Grants
Grants account for close to 50 per cent of the operating budget. Currently Hospice of Peel gets funding from Ministry of Health - Long Term Care Division and the United Way of Peel Region.

b) Donations
As a registered charitable agency ( charitable registration # 13215 5011 RR0001) Hospice of Peel issues tax receipts for donations received. Any financial contribution to Hospice of Peel is a "Gift of Dignity". Donations from individuals, corporations, faith communities, service clubs, foundations and in-memoriam make up 20 per cent of our income. Donations of equipment and supplies are often received; "in-kind" donations have been very helpful.

c) Fundraising Events
Each year a number of special events and activities are planned as fundraisers. They accounted for nearly 40 per cent of the budget. A number of annual and on-going events and activities - all volunteer driven -include

* Hospice of Peel Annual Golf Classic
* Soiree Mission Possible - dinner & auction
* A number of 3rd party events such as Smile Cookie Campaign, Fashion Show,Golf Tournmanet & Concerts.

Thank You to 35 Tim Hortons Brampton Stores who raised over $20,000 for Hospice of Peel through the  .
Smile Cookie Campaign.

We are always seeking fundraising ideas and volunteer help. We welcome suggestions or leads and offers of support from corporations, service clubs, schools who do a fundraising project on our behalf.
